HOW TO POST.

How to post
Differentiating between posting formats:
The fun part about The Manhattan Project is the variety of posting possibilities on your character’s journal. Does your character like chatting to a camera? Post a vlog post! Words a better friend? Blog it out! The problem is, of course, that many may not know how to respond to each scene – do they write or send a video back? Although there are obvious differences between vlogs and blogs in terms of writing style, it is nevertheless a good idea to place a note somewhere in your post so that your fellow players know! Much like how you may post “log” and “voicemail” in an IC community, The Manhattan Project’s solution to this is by noting your post type in the subject! For those who might prefer tags, this is also a possibility. Either way, include the following clue words somewhere on your entry depending on your post type:
  • Blog/weblog
  • Vlog/video log
  • Voice post
Your fellow players will thank you in advance!

How to lock posts:
Since we’re all keen to direct – and hide – certain messages to certain people in RP, here’s MP’s method: the PWP. PWP stands for password protect and is, in essence, the same as a lock; when a person makes a PWP to someone, a password is automatically generated and sent to the person/people’s e-mail address through an encrypted message. Naturally, hackers can either intercept this message or tamper with the lock to read it, but this would involve either plot or OOC consent.

You’re probably wondering the limits of these filters, so allow me to elaborate! In essence, think of a PWP filter as a listserv: you’re able to send a single message to one person through a listserv, but you’re also allowed to send them to acknowledged groups too. For instance: you will always, without fail, be able to send a filtered message to Jane Doe, Doc Holiday, and Chester Arthur. However, filtering to established groups in-game, such as a band (The Kinks) or a club (NYU Forestry Enthusiasts), is also kosher. It’s when you get into filters such as FILTERED TO EVERY HOTTIE ON THE NETWORK that things get really sketch, since a) that’s subjective and b) what if your character doesn’t know every hottie on the network?

Worse comes to worse, ask before you make a filter – but the moderator trusts your judgment!
